Eastcrest is the name
Eastcrest is a Brooklyn-born, North Carolina-raised, Oakland-based beatmaker, producer, and sound curator. Drawing from over two decades of experience, his music is rooted in a raw, unfiltered approach that blends Boom Bap rhythms, soul, jazz, and global influences. Inspired by his Black cultural heritage, Eastcrest’s sound reflects a deep love for experimentation, crate-digging, and the craft of beatmaking. His work embodies an unapologetic, nostalgic ethos while exploring diverse and eclectic sonic landscapes.
brutalist Architecture
Brutalist Architecture is a dark, episodic journey through sound, inspired by the raw beauty and monumental form of Brutalist design. With Doom Bap rhythms, angular distortion, and meditative repetition, it layers steel, concrete, wood, and wind into a minimalist construction of beats. Both brutal and beautiful, it resonates like dark matter through the ether, a civic fortress of beats, a cyborg soul etched in graffiti.

The Boom Bap Bachelor
The Boom Bap Bachelor is my most personal release yet, using hip-hop beats as a form of creative expression while embracing the love and sentimentality rooted in R&B and soul music. With my old, trusted Akai MPC 1000, this album reflects my journey of self-discovery as an analog bachelor, unapologetically navigating a technological world; all with a mid-90s Boom Bap ethos. Boom shakalaka, Eastcrest the beat rocka!

Yo Hovercraft, What’s Good?
The “Yo Hovercraft, What’s Good?” EP is the follow-up to Eastcrest’s debut album. These five songs were produced under his previous alias, Hovercraft. Continuing with his unfiltered approach on the MPC 1000, YHWG brings the audacity of hard-hitting drums combined with extravagant sounds, free-form jazz, and expansive global music. Eastcrest will take you on an amphibious journey, exploring land, sea, and the galaxy.

Whatever Floats Your Boat
After over 20 years of crate digging dollar bins and tuning his “hovercraft,” Eastcrest is ready to release his debut album Whatever Floats Your Boat. Produced throughout 2023, Whatever Floats is a curation of songs crafted exclusively on an Akai MPC 1000; Eastcrest’s nostalgic approach keeps the music unfiltered and raw. Delivered with a nod to early 2000’s hip-hop beat era, this instrumental album traverses diverse landscapes of music and eclectic vibrations.
